Your garage door won’t open or close properly if its track is damaged or bent. Of course, garage door tracks can be replaced. However, you should know that the process is quite complicated. It is labor-intensive and time-consuming.
What’s more, you cannot do it alone. Because garage doors usually weigh around 400 pounds, you’ll need someone to assist you. In any case, your best bet is to let expert technicians replace your bent garage door tracks.
However, sometimes, all the tracks need is repair. Knowing how to spot the early signs of damage can prevent the issue from becoming so big that replacement becomes the only option.
Here are the signs that you need to repair your garage door tracks:
If you notice any unusual movement like shaking on your garage door, then you’ll likely need repairs. Remember that if you neglect the issue, it may eventually cause accidents and injuries. It’s possible that the door is off the track and it’s detaching from the rails. When it swings down, it can damage anything near it.
To prevent unfortunate incidents, you should contact All Garage Door Service. Our technicians will check the condition of the rails and see if there are damaged or worn-out parts. We will ensure that everything will be in working order.
Observe how the garage door opens and closes and check if it appears to be uneven. There could be something wrong with the rails if it doesn’t open and close properly. For instance, the door could be slightly off track.
Now, you may think that you can solve this problem on your own. However, we recommend calling expert technicians instead. Keep in mind that you’re dealing with a moving piece of equipment that is at least 400 pounds heavy. If you don’t have the right tools and knowledge, the garage door may fall off the rails completely. It can damage anything underneath it, or even worse, lead to fatal injuries.
When you ask All garages door services technicians to put your garage door back on its track, we’ll also check the condition of the rails. We’ll ensure that there are no other issues that have to be addressed. If we spot any problems, we will recommend the appropriate solution.
Check the rails of your garage door and see if there is any damage. Visible damages like dings and dents must be repaired or replaced as soon as possible. Keep in mind that smaller issues can lead to bigger problems that may affect the entire garage door system.
To ensure that the door will open and close smoothly, the rails must be in great condition. Otherwise, the door can endanger people or cause accidents that may damage possessions.
There are a lot of moving parts in a garage door system. Because you’re using the door multiple times a day, it’s only natural for the parts to wear out eventually. For instance, if anything gets caught in the grooves, the track can bend easily. Consequently, the garage door can go off track.
Now, you might wonder if you can repair a bent garage door track on your own. Let’s look at the process before you decide:
It’s important to lubricate the tracks and wheels regularly to prevent them from getting bent. All the moving parts, especially the hinges and rollers, in the system should have lubricants like light oil, aerosol lubricant, or silicon oil.
The process can be time-consuming, especially if you don’t know how to locate these parts. However, when you hire us for garage door tune-ups and inspections, we will ensure that all the moving components are properly lubricated.
It’s crucial to spot and repair bent garage door tracks as soon as it happens to prevent the door from going off track. So, you should always check if the tracks are straight. They should have an even distance from each other and should be in a straight, vertical position. Otherwise, they could be bent, causing the entire door to come off track.
Fixing bent garage door tracks involves loosening the bolts that hold them in place. The track can be tapped gently to put it back into a vertical position. A pair of pliers can also be used to straighten the bent tracks. The bolts will be tightened back into place once the track is completely straight.
Usually, bent vertical garage door tracks can be repaired with a claw hammer. Many will say that it’s a reasonably easy garage door repair process. However, if that doesn’t solve the issue, then you’ll likely need a replacement.
Now, if your horizontal garage door tracks are bent, you should hire a technician. Repairing this on your own can be dangerous.
However, no matter what type of tracks your garage door has, you shouldn’t ignore them once they get damaged or bent. For a while, the door may continue working. However, eventually, it will go off track and cause premature damage to other components.
Remember that malfunctioning garage doors cause thousands of injuries and deaths every year. So, it’s best that you contact All garages door services technicians.
During installation, most garage doors are fitted with rails that are designed specifically for them. In fact, every manufactured garage door system comes with its own set of tracks or rails.
Now, if you attempt to fit a different rail for a garage door, it will not open. In most cases, if you replace an existing garage door, the current rails will not work. You need to replace all the parts to accommodate the new garage door.
While garage door tracks appear identical, they never have a universal design. As such, if you need a replacement, you’ll also need a complete system overhaul. Taking this approach will ensure that the garage door will operate smoothly.
According to Home Advisor, repairing a garage door track costs around $125 to $400. If you’re going to replace it because it’s damaged or dented, you’ll spend an additional $50 to $100.

Several problems can cause misaligned, damaged, or bent garage door tracks. This issue occurs because of a broken cable, inadequate roller lubrication, broken drum connection, metal fatigue, and a decayed jamb, among many other reasons.
No matter what caused your damaged garage door rails, you need a solution right away. If you neglect the problem, it may cause other costlier issues.
As we’ve mentioned, simple roller lubrication can be the solution. However, most of the time, replacing the tracks is necessary. If you want an accurate diagnosis of the issue, call the services of a trusted expert, namely All Garage Door Service!

“Austyn came out to replace our garage door opener with a far more cheerful attitude than someone working outdoors, mid-day, in June would usually have. He spent about 4-hours updating the opener, wheels, and springs, (I’m sure there was more), and was just a pleasure to be around the entire time. We went for an opener with a camera and Wi-Fi capabilities and he offered to help me get it set up on my phone, which was so nice of him. What I’m most impressed by, however, is how he kept the original door/track system in tact (with some “minor” adjustments to tighten everything up a bit), but made it feel like a completely new garage door. Thanks for all your help today, Austyn!”

Called for appointment to replace rubber seals. Scheduler was very courteous and was able to get us scheduled for the next day. This was not an urgent issue but happy for quick visit. Tech Jason was very pleasant, fun to work with. Ended up with almost complete overhaul of garage door lift system. A lot more than I planned at this time of year but the system sounds so much better. Would definitely work with them again.
